About Dr. Jeffrey S. Haddad

TMJ and Sleep Apnea Dentist in Detroit

Jeffrey S. Haddad, DDS received his undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1997, and his dental degree in 2001, both from the University of Michigan. He maintains three dental practices in Rochester and Rochester Hills, Michigan with a focus on TMJ and Sleep Disorders, Cosmetic Dentistry, and full mouth reconstruction.

Dr. Haddad has over 2,000 hours of post-graduate dental education and extensive training at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), achieving his Fellowship status at LVI in 2011. This makes him one of the few dentists in the world who completed this level of advanced education in cosmetics, TMJ and sleep apnea treatment, and full mouth reconstruction.

He has developed several courses on how to predictably treat complex TMD and OSA patients and trains doctors on these advanced techniques and approaches. Dr. Haddad teaches and lectures internationally on TMJ and Sleep Disorders, cosmetic dentistry, and practice management and marketing.

Pioneering a New Approach to TMJ and Sleep Apnea Treatment

Through his extensive training in neuromuscular and sleep dentistry, Dr. Haddad has developed innovative treatment protocols that address both jaw health and airway function. His work has led to the development of two groundbreaking treatment methodologies:

  • TMJ PRECISION APPROACH™ – A comprehensive system for diagnosing and treating jaw disorders, chronic pain, and bite misalignment.
  • SLEEP APNEA PRECISION APPROACH™ – A non-invasive alternative to CPAP therapy, designed to improve both breathing and jaw alignment for long-term sleep apnea relief.

These methods have helped thousands of patients across the country, offering a more effective and comfortable alternative to traditional treatment options.

An Educator and Trusted Resource in Sleep and TMJ Care

Dr. Haddad is a highly sought-after lecturer in cosmetic dentistry, TMJ disorders, and sleep apnea treatment. For more than a decade, he has trained dentists and healthcare providers nationally and internationally on the latest advancements in TMJ and sleep apnea therapy. Many doctors also seek private training from him to expand their understanding of airway-focused dentistry.

Using advanced technology and progressive treatment techniques, Dr. Haddad has been providing comprehensive care for TMJ and sleep disorders longer than any other doctor in Michigan. He was also the first doctor in the state to introduce Summus Medical Platinum Laser therapy for TMJ disorders and headache relief in 2018.

Not always. 👂❌A surprisingly high number of people visit their doctor for ear pain, ringing, or fullness, only to find out their ears are perfectly healthy. The real culprit? The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).Because your jaw joint sits right next to your ear canal, inflammation, clenching, or misalignment in the jaw can easily mimic a severe earache. If you've been dealing with unexplained ear discomfort, it might be time to look at your jaw.#MichiganCenterForTMJAndSleepWellness #MCTSW #TroyMI #TroyMichigan #TMJ #TMJDisorder #EarPain #JawPain #DentistTips #HolisticHealth #DentalEducation

A point I shared at Awaken2Sleep is something I come back to often: patients want to understand how treatment may affect their everyday lives. Will I have more energy? Could my snoring improve? What will treatment involve? What will it cost? Those questions usually matter more to the patient than a long explanation of the clinical details. That is also where a well-trained team can make such a difference. They can listen, answer questions, explain the process, and help patients understand what to expect before the doctor ever walks into the room. That gives me more time to focus on being the doctor, understanding the patient, and determining whether treatment is appropriate for them.Know who you are talking to, understand what matters to them, and trust your team.#DentalSleepMedicine #SleepApnea #DentalLeadership #PatientCommunication #MichiganTMJAndSleep
One of the clinical ideas I shared at Awaken2Sleep was why jaw position matters so much when we are working with sleep appliances.I have seen patients referred to me with jaw pain, headaches, and facial pain while wearing the same type of appliance I use in my own practice. In those cases, the appliance itself was not necessarily the issue. The position of the jaw was different.By measuring muscle activity and using real-time jaw tracking, I can identify where the jaw is most comfortable and use that information to determine appliance position.I am not saying every sleep patient needs TMD treatment. For me, the goal is to use objective data, understand the individual patient, and be thoughtful about the position we are asking that jaw to maintain.Same appliance. Different position. Different outcome.#DentalSleepMedicine #TMJ #SleepApnea #JawPain #Headaches #MichiganTMJAndSleep
